Chapter 224: | 224 | TIMESKIP: Part Twelve - A Voyage To Conquer My Wife

"I presume it\'s about Columbus..." Abraham remarked, earning the nod of the intelligence officer. He had sent various personnel to find his wife as there were only three months left before a year had passed.

Even though he was ignorant of the duration of pregnancy his wife might go through, ignorance wasn\'t a bliss for someone like him.

A lot of things have happened since Laplace\'s departure. His relationship with Charlotte and Mercedes had grown further than what he had expected. He had learned to love them far beyond a close friend and more like a lover.

However, all of them understood that such a relationship must be in complete secrecy. He was a married man, and he needed to handle the wrath of his wife, regardless of how the two commented about him misunderstanding something.

In simpler terms, the guilt and the desire to meet his wife consumed him. Even if he wanted to abandon the Naval Task of not interfering with the operations of the United World Government, he wasn\'t that confident in actually leading them in his current state.

"Yes, Sir... Columbus has made a significant breakthrough. It has made contact with Lady Laplace somewhere in the Frontier, in the island kingdom of Anaconda." The following words of the intelligence officer shook Abraham down to his core.

His mind was awakened as his back straightened. From the following failures that could be counted in dozens, he didn\'t expect Columbus to find his wife. His expectations was practically below the abyssal depths of the ocean floor after the insurmountable failures.

"Where is she? Is she okay!?" Naturally, Abraham was excited, wanting to meet his wife. The intelligence officer lowered her head and continued her report. "There were some troubles in the contact, Sir. Columbus almost got annihilated."

"Columbus 0-1 was supposed to go through a reconnaissance of the island kingdom of Anaconda. However, they were met with a horrible storm and a terrifying sight of the country. According to the aviation personnel onboard, it was burning while steadily sinking into the seas."

"Pictures have been fortunately retrieved from the data center in the aircraft, and they weren\'t wrong." The intelligence officer calmly placed pictures that the reconnaissance officer had taken of the island of Anaconda.

Abraham gazed at the pictures and saw nothing but pure destruction. Crimson fiery flames of inferno devoured the landscape as the shores slowly sunk from the tides of the rough seas. Most importantly, there was a gargantuan serpentine dragon in the devastated capital city of Anaconda.

He was sure of it, the dragon was none other than his wife, Laplace. But, if she resided in the capital city of what was supposed to be a country, it would mean... A country has been destroyed, and the culprit was her.

"Has anyone else learn of this information?" Abraham questioned the intelligence officer, who shook her head and responded with calm. "Aside from the aviation personnel who conducted the search and myself, the intelligence remains confidential."

"Good, keep it that way. I don\'t want anyone learning about this information. Make it disappear." Abraham ordered as he stood up from his chair and continued. "Prepare a plane for me, I want to head towards the burning and sinking country."

"Affirmative, Sir. Documents and hard data about the information will be promptly destroyed. However, I do not recommend a trip towards Anaconda. Lady Laplace might not be in the mental faculties to recognize anyone."

"I\'m not foolish as to think that she would still remember me. My Laplace wouldn\'t destroy a country and burn it into the ground. I have to make sure that the situation doesn\'t worsen. Otherwise, a line might be traversed through if we let her go at it."

Abraham wasn\'t dumb enough to think that his wife would still be able to recognize him. The moment she goes near him, she would probably try to kill him. But letting her go would bring about greater problems that would complicate the future.

There were many beastfolk countries in the Frontier, a few of them near Anaconda. If her scope of destruction got larger and larger, it would bound to reveal her identity. And it would be hard for the United World Government to support her after the destruction she brought upon into a random country.

"I shall see to it, Sir." The intelligence officer understood that the Authority had made his decision. He was a stubborn man who would go through the path of the choices he had chosen instead of backtracking from its dangers. Perhaps, it was why she admires him as the Authority.

"Wait, before leave. Make sure that the aircraft will be equipped with HERMES. The newest model of the R&D Department." Abraham remembered the spatial transportation project of the R&D Department, codenamed HERMES.

It was a spatial-transmission engine that would help the logistics of the United Army, Navy, and Air Force of the UWG. At the moment, the largest equipped with HERMES were transport aircrafts like the C-130. Warships found it difficult to undergo spatial-transmission without breaking apart.

However, reverse engineering the runes of former battleships of the Colonial Dominion of Terra had accelerated the pace of research in the field. It might not be long for the United Navy to procure the ability of teleportation.

"Understood, Sir. It will be done. A new prototype will be installed into Columbus 0-2." The intelligence officer nodded in agreement, returning to the elevator to follow through the orders given to her.

...

A couple of hours later, Abraham arrived in the western airfield of the installation riddled with aircrafts of all sort ranging from attack helicopters, transport helicopters, fighter aircrafts, and even bomber. It was filled to the brim with aviation personnel, assuring the proper maintenance of the spoken aircrafts.

As he walked through the western airfield, a C-130 already resides in the beginning of the runway, ready for take off. An aviation officer stood before him with straightened back and the usual salute. "Sir, Columbus 0-2 is ready for take off."

"The newest prototype of HERMES has already been installed with the coordinates of the destination recorded in our system." The aviation officer quickly reported, earning the nod of Abraham. "Good, let\'s leave immediately."

"The more time we waste, the riskier it becomes." Abraham got inside the Columbus and immediately strapped himself into a seat. The aviation personnel made their final preparation and swiftly closed the ramps of the aircraft.

The propellers of the C-130 turned on, rotating rapidly by the moment. Thrust was soon made as the transport aircraft started moving in the runway. They soon gained speed, propelling forward while the the aviation pilot turned the flaps at an angle. Experience more tales on m v|l e\'-NovelBin.net

The transport aircraft steadily soared into the skies, heading towards the direction of its destination, the fallen kingdom of Anaconda. However, to go there as quickly as possible, was a problem for their new magi-technology to solve.

"Hold tight, Sir. HERMES will soon be activated." An aviation officer stated while holding on into what was hard. Abraham merely nodded at him, but kept his comfortable posture. The pilots made preparations for the activation of HERMES, which was a complicated one.

There were several sensitive components in the aircraft that might be affected by the intense internal turbulence brought about by the spatial transmission. Naturally, the current and newest prototype assured the survival of sensitive components, making it reliable for quick transport.

After making their preparations, the aviation pilots nodded at one another and turned the key for activation. The aircraft soon trembled as if it was hit by the greatest turbulence it had ever gone through. Everything was quivering, leaving some wondering if it would break apart amidst transmission.

Everest sat comfortably in his seat, seemingly unaffected by the effects brought about by spatial-transmission. His body was too rigid for something like a tiny spatial quake would affect. Though, he did notice the advancements that the R&D Department had made regarding spatial-transportation.

However, it was far from the accessibility that the Colonial Dominion of Terra had. There were many more things that could use improvements such as the lowering of the intense shaking. The vibrations will cause problem for the aircraft in the long-term, even with initial maintenance.

But he didn\'t ride the Columbus to criticize Hermes. He went in a voyage to get back his wife.

The turbulence soon calmed down and the blue skies beyond the circular windows of the aircraft turned dark. Lightning roared in the background, illuminating in various colors. The Columbus had successfully transported itself near the fallen kingdom in an instant.

Abraham stood up and declared to the aviation personnel nearby. "I\'ll handle her alone. The plane should return to the Citadel, otherwise it wouldn\'t be able to survive with the intense conditions amidst the storm."

"I\'ll fare better if I am alone. At the very least, I wouldn\'t be worried about you guys getting hurt." Abraham continued, shotting down their rejections. "Open the ramp and let me drop from here. Remember to heed my words and retreat immediately."

The aviation personnel opened the ramps, bringing about a surge of wind in the interiors of the aircraft. Abraham stood while gazing at the burning island below with a cold expression on his face. Though, a smile formed on his face as he glanced at the men behind him.

"Consider this a matrimonial problem, the usual when marrying a feisty girl, right?" He smirked and promptly jumped from the aircraft.
