Chapter 107.Attack On Gera City [1]

The city of Gera was a busy place with many visitors. As a provincial capital, its population was over 200,000.

Tonight, with the moonlight illuminating the narrow alleyways and arched buildings of this city, it looked beautiful from above. The flavor of prosperity flowed with the humid wind of this place, marking the last of summer before autumn\'s arrival.

Inside the Holy Light Church, the Karsuda Diocese. Wearing white priestly robes, Bishop Panchel was looking at the silent street below. His old face had yet to have any wrinkles, but stress was carving some faint lines on it.

It was late at night, and some lights were still flickering in the city. One could see a few pedestrians walking quickly to their homes. Feeling the midsummer wind caressing his face, Panchel was anxious.

He already knew what had happened to the other two paladins. But there was nothing known about Ash. Where had he gone for more than a month? That boy had told no one when he left.

Being a bishop, Panchel wasn\'t that well-versed in battles. His only hope against that necromancer was the remaining paladin, Orpheus.

Gera also had some nobles, but they weren\'t that useful. Still, Minerva was bound to come here. Panchel thought. He didn\'t understand why the countess had turned out to be like this. The bishop could only pray to God for that.

Rwarrrghh!

At this moment, a loud booming sound suddenly came from the northwest area. The bishop sensed something extremely dangerous approaching the city.

His palms left the railings as he turned around and ran. Climbing the church\'s bell tower, Panchel looked at the sky. He used a divine miracle to enhance his visionary capabilities and saw a huge wyvern.

\'\'Dear god…\'\'

Panchel staggered. He turned around and touched the large bell. Imbuing it with his bestowed Divine Powers, the bishop did a prayer.

The bell rang with a loud sound which echoed throughout the ends of Gera City.

Even though it was nighttime, every resident, traveler, adventurer, and merchant heard this. They came out from the houses and a commotion immediately spread all over the city. This was the signal of a life-threatening danger.

On the other side of the city. Orpheus, the paladin, flew and contacted the bishop with his Divine Sense. Finding out that a wyvern was heading this way, Orpheus frowned deeply.

It was abnormal for a monster to reach this deep into the human settlement. He heard another roar, its intensity greater this time. At this speed, it would be here in no time.

Orpheus felt a sense of extreme urgency and reached the Adventurer\'s Guild building. Calliya, the Guild Master, was already outside, looking far away. She was a dark elf archer at the 4th Circle.

\'\'Ready your forces, quick!\'\' The paladin urged as he hovered above her using a flying skill.

Calliya frowned and rose to the air as well. She could see someone riding that wyvern.

\'\'There is not enough time to evacuate!\'\' The elf woman breathed deeply. She lifted her longbow and pulled its bowstring.

A magical black arrow manifested from the mana around. It was her signature ability, The Sky Piercer. The bow bent as Calliya pulled the string to its maximum limit and released the magic arrow.

Whoosh!

She wasn\'t targeting the wyvern but the man standing on top of it. Being a dark elf gave her a natural Dark Vision ability. Seeing his horns had made her think of something ominous.

The bell rang for the second time. The guards had already climbed on the city walls, and were looking in the direction where the roars were coming from.

\'\'I-Is that a d-dragon?\'\'

They could only see the faint outline of a flying monster. Each had a torch in hand. They were mostly 1st or 2nd Circle warriors. There were only two 3rd Circle Knights stationed here.

Usually, that much would be enough to regulate the city and even save it from sieges. One 3rd Circle being was more than enough. However, in front of such a calamitous enemy, they all felt nothing but fear.

At this moment, an arrow zoomed past their heads. Their eyes followed it, and they saw the silhouette of a person on the flying monster.

\'\'Hmm?\'\' Sensing something coming his way at supersonic speed, Jake\'s black irises glowed red.

He didn\'t bother to use the Sphere of Darkness and let the arrow reach him. Jake snorted and the full-power attack of a 4th Circle Archer disintegrated in front of him.

Droge had also used its Wind Control ability to sweep away that arrow. It was so powerful that the wind reached the city, toppling almost all guards standing on the city walls.

Whoosh!

They reached above the skies of Gera City. At this moment, the wyvern\'s next title, Terror Monster, worked. All the city went into a state of chaos. People were terrified. They shrieked and ran to the other side.

\'\'Fire!\'\'

On the ground below, Calliya shouted, and a hundred or so 1st Circle archers shot magical arrows. Of course, those arrows couldn\'t harm the monster above. They were only to distract the wyvern. She knew it was pretty stupid.

\'\'Hah!\'\' Orpheus kicked the ground and shot up.

His lance shone with a brilliant golden light which gave hope to the people of Gera.

[Dark Fire]

A flame as long as the lance burned from the mysterious man\'s hand. He summoned a long scythe which bathed in that fire and slashed it downwards.

A loud booming sound burst in the sky. Standing on Droge\'s back, Jake actually had to take a step back. It appeared this paladin\'s strength was higher than his.

\'\'What?!\'\' Orpheus immediately recognized that demonic aura after his first contact with Jake.

Normal priests or knights wouldn\'t be able to notice it, but he was a paladin. He knew what terrifying evil hid behind that handsome face.

At this moment, Jake\'s attention went to the ground.

\'\'Divine Thunder.\'\'

The bishop\'s voice was like a soothing piece of music. However, the crack of thunder left everyone\'s souls shuddering.
